In December, everyone is eager to enjoy the best of the holiday season. If you’re visiting Monterrey, here’s a guide to the top places and experiences to enjoy during these festive days.
Candy canes, snowmen, and—of course—Santa Claus are some of the most common sights you’ll find throughout the city, transporting visitors into a North Pole–like fantasy. Over the years, several locations have become beloved holiday landmarks for locals in Nuevo León.
Plan your outfits carefully to make the most of these experiences, whether you’re traveling as a couple, with family, or enjoying a solo holiday date. Be sure to pack warm, comfortable clothing to withstand Monterrey’s chilly winter temperatures.
Your ideal base for exploring the city during this season is Camino Real Fashion Drive and Quinta Real Monterrey. In addition to offering excellent dining options and seamless connectivity, both hotels provide air-conditioned rooms that ensure the perfect indoor climate for restful nights.
You’ll also appreciate thoughtful in-room amenities, such as an ironing kit to keep your outfits looking their best. A hot shower will help you recharge after a day outdoors, while the hair dryer ensures you won’t step back into the cold with damp hair—especially important during Monterrey’s winter months.
Once you’ve enjoyed the comfort, services, and luxury that Camino Real hotels are known for, it’s time to let your Christmas spirit take center stage.
Places and activities to visit in Monterrey this season
Chipinque Ecological Park
Less than 30 minutes from Camino Real Fashion Drive, this park is a seasonal classic—though you’ll want to bundle up, as temperatures here feel even colder. Weather conditions often create cinematic landscapes, and on occasion, the trails are dusted with snow.
Luztopía
Luztopía is a beloved Christmas light festival featuring more than 200 illuminated figures along the Paseo de Santa Lucía, making it a perfect nighttime outing. Along the pathways, you’ll find live music, food offerings, and characters like Santa Claus and the Grinch ready for photos. Please note that this event requires a paid ticket.
Auriga
Located in San Pedro Garza García, this upscale shopping center offers an excellent selection of dining options while fully embracing the winter spirit. In addition to its signature Christmas tree, Auriga hosts artificial snowfall shows on weekends.
Calzada San Pedro
This 2.5-kilometer avenue is one of Monterrey’s most iconic thoroughfares. Beyond being a favorite gathering spot for families, it hosts the traditional San Pedro Garza García Christmas parade each year. Even after the parade has passed, festive decorations and holiday light displays create the feel of a charming Christmas village.
Macro Navidad
Christmas comes alive in the heart of Nuevo León at Monterrey’s Macroplaza, which hosts the annual Macro Navidad celebration (Grand Christmas Event). Typically running from late November through early January, the event features an ice-skating rink, a Christmas train, and a wide range of family-friendly activities.
For a more traditional holiday experience, don’t miss the Monumental Nativity Scene displayed outside the Museum of Mexican History—an ideal spot for festive photos.
Villa Navidad at Parque Fundidora
Parque Fundidora transforms into Villa Navidad (Christmas town), a family-friendly gathering place filled with holiday installations and live shows featuring beloved characters from children’s films. Continuing the tradition of Christmas photos, you’ll also find the Grinch, Santa Claus, and the Three Wise Men, ready to hear your wishes for the season.
