If you’re already thinking about your next vacation destination, Mandinga Lagoon in Veracruz must be on your list. It’s one of Mexico’s best-kept natural treasures—hidden, beloved, and absolutely breathtaking. This enchanting place surrounds you with an impressive display of nature that invites you to slow down, reconnect, and appreciate the wonders of Mother Earth. Don’t think twice—discover Mandinga Lagoon and get ready for an unforgettable getaway.

What to Do at Mandinga Lagoon in Veracruz

Mandinga Lagoon is known for its natural beauty and its delicious local cuisine. You’ll want to explore every corner of its wetland and mangrove ecosystems—perfect for a scenic boat ride where you can visit small islets and estuaries that serve as home to hundreds of bird species.

The lagoon is divided into two sections: Laguna Chica (the small lagoon) and Laguna Grande (the large lagoon). The larger one is where you’ll find the restaurant area, perfect for tasting traditional dishes such as fish fillet in chipotle sauce, arroz a la tumbada, stuffed gratin fish, shrimp cocktail, and crispy fried mojarra, just to name a few.

One attraction you simply can’t miss is the Túnel del Beso (the Kiss Tunnel)—a magical corridor created by a dense mangrove forest. Gliding through it feels surreal, and you’ll leave with postcard-worthy memories that will stay with you forever.

You should also visit Isla de las Conchitas, located right in the center of the lagoon. This tiny islet is made of shrubs and thousands of seashells washed ashore by the tide. You can stroll over the surface of tiny shells while dipping your feet in crystal-clear water—a moment of pure, simple relaxation.

And that’s not all—you can also enjoy kayaking, fishing, paddleboarding, birdwatching, boat tours, and even camping.

Mandinga Lagoon is open from Friday to Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. A boat tour costs approximately 100 MXN, and it lasts around 45 minutes.

Mandinga Lagoon is located 8 km south of Boca del Río, along Veracruzana Boulevard.
