This program achieves its objectives by educating, innovating, adding value and promoting sustainability. By adhering to its guidelines, 30 of the properties of Grupo Camino Real were deserving of this recognition.

Environmental Education

The Foundation of Environmental Education (FEE) is one of the world's largest environmental organizations. With a broad spectre of programs focused on creating environmentally conscious communities and promoting eco-friendly business practices. In Camino Real Group we work daily to ensure that we instruct our work force to carry out and keep in mind these principles.

Environmental Policy

At Grupo Camino Real, we are committed to promoting, developing, and ensuring continuous improvement in environmental matters. That is why the Maintenance Department has taken on the responsibility of gradually implementing actions aimed at minimizing the environmental impact that our hotels may generate.

  • Consistently prevent various forms of water, air, and soil pollution in all our activities.
  • Adhere to established regulations, as per the state and corresponding entity.
  • Develop energy, gas, and water conservation plans and programs, in accordance with hotel operations.
  • Conduct recycling campaigns for materials and supplies, as well as energy and water conservation programs, involving both employees and guests.
  • Perform proper maintenance on equipment to promptly detect any malfunction that could result in a loss of energy efficiency or an increase in electricity, water, or gas consumption.
  • Reduce the generation of solid waste, emissions, noise, and wastewater, and minimize any potential environmental pollutants.
  • Promote the use of clean technology to help reduce environmental impact.
  • Control the consumption and use of chemical substances (cleaning products, air pollutants, and fertilizers/pesticides).
  • Encourage employee participation in environmental campaigns or programs within their community.
  • At Grupo Camino Real, we promote the implementation of a Solid Waste Management Plan aimed at minimizing waste volume, in accordance with current environmental regulations and requirements applicable to each state and jurisdiction.

  • Organic and inorganic waste is separated. In addition, recyclable inorganic waste such as cardboard, paper, glass, and plastic is sorted for potential recycling or reuse.

  • Programs are also carried out to reuse paper and to reduce its overall consumption as much as possible.

  • Each hotel must have an Energy Saving Program or Plan tailored to its operations.
  • Raise awareness among staff about the efficient use of electricity, thereby reducing consumption across different areas.
  • Prioritize the use of equipment and supplies that improve energy efficiency (such as low-consumption devices, energy-saving lighting, among others).
  • Hotels must have a Water Conservation Plan aligned with their specific operations.
  • Hotels equipped with a water treatment plant must ensure its proper use for water reuse.
  • Compliance with current legislation — according to the state or jurisdiction — will be ensured in terms of water use and the quality of wastewater discharges, in order to protect the biodiversity in the areas where the hotels operate.
  • Equipment and/or supplies that help reduce water consumption will be installed.
  • Water-saving programs will be promoted, involving both staff and guests.
  • An annual maintenance plan for equipment must be in place to ensure optimal performance and reduce potential environmental pollutants.
  • Equipment will be monitored to verify that CO₂ emissions remain within the limits established by the applicable state or local regulations.
  • Actions will be taken to reduce the emission of pollutants into the environment.
  • Keep the hotel's Executive Committee informed about the environmental risks and opportunities that arise.
  • Inform staff about recycling campaigns, energy and water conservation efforts, and encourage their participation.
  • Keep guests informed on how they can contribute to water and energy conservation.
