WHY DO FIREFLIES GLOW?

The drive from Mexico City to the Magical Town of Tlalpujahua takes approximately three hours. Warm clothing and comfortable shoes are highly recommended.

3. Bosque Esmeralda Ecotourism Park in Amecameca

This ecotourism park also offers cabins and a camping area. Thanks to the nearby bodies of water, the landscape is said to become particularly magical when mist settles among the trees.

The sanctuary is approximately two and a half hours from Mexico City.

4. Izta-Popo National Park, State of Mexico

In the community of Santa Isabel Chalma, visitors can enjoy a more immersive firefly experience. The tour features guided walks through a peaceful, family-friendly forest setting, followed by a group campfire complete with toasted marshmallows. At the foothills of La Marquesa, less than an hour from Mexico City, the town of San Pedro Atlapulco is surrounded by lush forests where visitors can join nighttime firefly-viewing tours.
